2025/26 GPL Matchday 26 wrap up: Berekum Chelsea shock Medeama SC as Bibiani Gold Stars close in with win over FC Samartex

The outstanding Matchday 30 fixtures of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League were concluded on Wednesday, May 6, across various venues, with decisive results shaping both the title race and relegation battle.

At the Golden City Park, Berekum Chelsea boosted their survival hopes with a spirited 2-1 victory over league leaders Medeama SC. Kelvin Nkrumah opened the scoring in the 12th minute, before Seidu Abubakar restored parity six minutes later to send both sides into the break level at 1-1. Chelsea, however, found the breakthrough in the 66th minute through Jonah Attuquaye, whose strike sealed a crucial win for the visitors.

At DUN’s Park, Bibiani Gold Stars bounced back to winning form with a 2-0 triumph over FC Samartex. Michael Nkoah was the standout performer, netting a first-half brace that proved enough to secure all three points for the home side.

Hearts of Oak were held to a goalless draw by Karela United at the Accra Sports Stadium in a tightly contested encounter that produced few clear-cut chances.

At the Swedru Stadium, All Blacks delivered one of the most emphatic results of the round, thrashing relegation-threatened Eleven Wonders 5-2. Frank Awere set the tone early with a ninth-minute opener, before Rudolf Mensah doubled the lead in the 24th minute to give the hosts a 2-0 half-time advantage. Awere returned after the break to complete his brace, while Eleven Wonders briefly responded through Eden Kofi Asamoah in the 54th minute. However, further goals from Hafiz Alhassan—who also scored twice—and Emmanuel Boateng ensured a dominant win for All Blacks.

Young Apostles also impressed at the Wenchi Stadium, securing a 3-1 victory over Vision FC. Samuel Prempeh and Richmond Opoku gave the hosts a 2-0 lead at halftime. Vision FC pulled one back through Ruben Quaye after the restart, but Samuel Amankwah’s late strike confirmed all three points for Young Apostles.

At the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park, Dreams FC edged Bechem United 2-1. Mohammed Shaban Nazir put Dreams ahead in the 14th minute, with Bechem equalising before halftime. Abdul Razak Salifu then struck in the 58th minute to secure victory for the visitors.

Basake Holy Stars recorded a notable 2-0 win over Aduana FC at the AAK II Park, with goals from Jacob Boazee and Prince Tweneboah—one in each half—ensuring a comfortable home success.

At the Kpando Sports Stadium, Nations FC earned a narrow 1-0 win over Heart of Lions, courtesy of Kelvin Ampofo’s first-half goal.

Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko were awarded three points and three goals following Hohoe United’s withdrawal from the league.

After Matchday 30, Medeama SC remain at the top of the table, followed closely by Bibiani Gold Stars, Hearts of Oak, and FC Samartex in the top four. At the other end, Vision FC, Hohoe United, and Eleven Wonders occupy the relegation zone.
