2026 World Cup: Ghana will be in deep trouble if Mohammed Kudus does not return from injury - Daniel Opare
Former Black Stars defender Daniel Opare has raised concerns over Ghana’s chances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting the team could face serious difficulties if Mohammed Kudus fails to recover in time for the tournament.
Kudus, 25, is currently sidelined with an injury that has ruled him out for the remainder of the season, casting doubt over his availability for the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
“If he doesn't come back, we're in deep trouble,” Opare told JoySports.
“Like I said, football is, you know, the ones there can play, but I think with Kudus in there, he will add more value to the team.
“So, you know, fingers crossed, we pray that he recovers on time so that he can make the World Cup. You understand," he added.
The attacking midfielder had been in impressive form, contributing nine goals in all competitions for Tottenham Hotspur before his injury setback in January.
Meanwhile, new Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz is expected to submit his final 48-man squad for the tournament by June 1.
Ghana, four-time African champions, will be making their fifth World Cup appearance after being drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama.
