2026 World Cup: Albert Adomah backs Antoine Semenyo to shine for Ghana at tournament
Former Ghana international Albert Adomah has thrown his support behind Antoine Semenyo, insisting the forward will play a key role for the Black Stars at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Semenyo has continued his impressive rise in club football following his January move from AFC Bournemouth to Manchester City.
The 25-year-old has already netted eight goals in all competitions, underlining his strong form ahead of the global tournament.
Adomah, who represented Ghana at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, believes Semenyo’s current displays reflect his growing influence for the national side.
“Antoine Semenyo has done extremely well to reach his current level, and by God’s grace, he will continue to progress," he told 3Sports.
"He has a very bright future with the Black Stars and hopefully at the highest level of club football. I would urge him to keep doing what he’s been doing.
"He’s in great form, and hopefully he carries that into the World Cup with Ghana," Adomah added.
Semenyo is widely expected to be included in Ghana’s squad for the tournament, which will be hosted in United States, Canada and Mexico.
Ghana will be making their fifth appearance at the World Cup and have been drawn in Group L alongside England national football team, Croatia national football team and Panama national football team.
The Black Stars begin their campaign against Panama on June 17, before taking on England on June 23, and concluding their group-stage fixtures against Croatia on June 27.
