We can beat any opposition if we play as a team - Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz

New Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has expressed confidence in Ghana’s ability to compete at the highest level, insisting the team can beat any opponent if they play as a united unit.

The experienced Portuguese manager made the remarks during his official unveiling at the Alisa Hotel, where he outlined his vision and ambitions for the national team in the lead-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

“If we (Black Stars) play as a team, I believe we can beat any opponent in this world,” Queiroz told the media.

Prior to the press conference, Queiroz paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Sports, Kofi Iddie Adams, accompanied by Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku and other senior officials.

Ghana are set to make their fifth appearance at the World Cup in 2026, having been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama.

The Black Stars will begin their campaign against Panama on June 17, before facing England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.

Queiroz has been handed the responsibility of guiding Ghana beyond the group stage, following earlier exits in 2014 and 2022, with growing expectations for a stronger showing on football’s biggest stage.
