Hamza Obeng takes interim charge of Asante Kotoko until the end of the season after Prince Yaw Owusu's resignation
Asante Kotoko have appointed assistant coach Hamza Obeng as interim head coach for the remainder of the 2025/26 season following the resignation of Prince Yaw Owusu.
Owusu stepped down from his role after a spell in charge that was defined by inconsistent results.
He had been handed the interim position earlier in the campaign after Karim Zito’s sudden departure, which came in the wake of the club’s FA Cup defeat to Aduana FC at the Baba Yara Stadium.
In a statement, the Kumasi-based club confirmed that Owusu had tendered his resignation, explaining that the decision was taken in what he believed to be the best interest of the team.
Kotoko also announced that Obeng, who has been working with the club’s youth side, the Young Porcupines, will now lead the senior team through the final stretch of the season.
“In the interim, Youth Team Coach Hamza Obeng will take charge of the team for the remaining games of the season,” the club said.
