Ghana Swimming Association secures $25,000 boost from World Aquatics for 2026 development programmes
The Ghana Swimming Association (GSA) has secured a $25,000 funding allocation from World Aquatics under the World Aquatics Support Programme for 2026.
The financial support comes in recognition of the Association’s sustained efforts to promote and develop aquatic sports across the country.
According to the GSA, the funds will be channelled into a range of athlete-centred and institutional development initiatives scheduled for the 2026 calendar year.
Key programmes to benefit from the allocation include a water polo workshop aimed at training coaches, capacity-building initiatives in federation management, and anti-doping education to enhance awareness and compliance among athletes and officials.
The funding will also support Ghana’s participation in continental championships as well as regional competitions, providing athletes with vital exposure on the international stage.
The Association expressed gratitude to World Aquatics for what it described as timely and impactful support, reaffirming its commitment to transparency and effective use of the resources.
GSA further emphasised that the funding would play a crucial role in strengthening the overall ecosystem of aquatic sports in Ghana while fostering long-term growth and excellence.
