Port City FC seal historic Ghana Premier League Promotion with games to spare

Port City FC have booked their place in the 2026–27 Ghana Premier League after an impressive campaign in Zone Three of the Access Bank Division One League, clinching promotion with four matches still left to play.

The league leaders have been in dominant form throughout the season, accumulating 61 points from 26 matches. They now sit 15 points clear at the summit, with closest rivals Semper Fi FC on 46 points—leaving Port City with an unassailable lead given only 12 points remain available.

Their promotion charge has been built on consistency and defensive solidity, with the club registering 18 wins, 7 draws, and just a single defeat so far this campaign.

Despite stiff competition from sides such as Attram De Visser FC and Semper Fi FC at different stages of the season, Port City maintained their momentum to pull away decisively in the title race.

The achievement marks a strong turnaround from last season, when they narrowly missed out on promotion after finishing second behind Hohoe United. This time, they have gone one better, sealing their return to top-flight football with games to spare.

Port City FC are the first side to secure promotion from the Division One League this season, as attention now shifts to the remaining zones where the final Ghana Premier League spots will be decided.
