Black Stars officially open camp for Austria friendly game, 14 players report to camp

The Black Stars have officially begun preparations for their upcoming international friendlies against Austria and Germany.

Ghana’s senior national team will take on Austria at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium on Friday, March 27, before travelling to Stuttgart for a clash with Germany on Monday, March 30.

Head coach Otto Addo has named a 26-man squad for the fixtures. The camp opened on Sunday in Austria’s capital with 14 players, including veteran forward Jordan Ayew, alongside a group of promising newcomers.

The early arrivals include Benjamin Asare, Patric Pfeiffer, Ibrahim Sulemana, Prince Kwabena Adu, Jonas Adjetey, Daniel Agyei, Derrick Kohn, Marvin Senaya, Gideon Mensah, Elisha Owusu, Kwasi Sibo, Jerome Opoku, and Joseph Tetteh Anang. Additional squad members are expected to join the team later this week.

These matches are part of the Black Stars’ preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

Following the European tour, Ghana will face Mexico in May before concluding their pre-tournament friendlies against Wales on June 2.

Ghana, set to make their fifth appearance at the World Cup, have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia. Their campaign opens against Panama on June 17, followed by a showdown with England on June 23, and the group stage wraps up against Croatia on June 27.
