The timing has to be right - Ignatius Osei-Fosu on vacant Asante Kotoko coaching job
Assistant coach of the Sudanese national football team, Ignatius Osei-Fosu, has clarified that he was never officially approached for the Asante Kotoko coaching position, despite widespread speculation.
Currently serving under Sudan coach Kwesi Appiah—who also holds the role of Asante Kotoko Head of Sporting Affairs—Osei-Fosu expressed gratitude for being considered for top roles but emphasized that timing has always guided his career decisions.
“In the first place, if your name comes up, it means that you have done a fantastic job. But nobody actually contacted me,” Osei-Fosu told Luv FM.
The former Dreams FC and King Faisal F.C. coach noted that he is deliberate when evaluating opportunities, stressing that the right moment is essential when accepting new roles.
“Timing of the job is always of the essence to me. When I’m picking jobs, it’s always the right time. I don’t jump into it. From the start of my career, my people and I have always talked about timing, so there have been different jobs at different times,” he explained.
Osei-Fosu added that earlier this season, he was approached by another Ghana Premier League club for a potential role, but he declined because the timing wasn’t right.
“In fact, when I came to Ghana earlier this season, there was a Ghana Premier League club that contacted me. But I told them the time was not right,” he added.
