GFA announces four friendly games for Black Stars ahead of 2026 World Cup

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed four international friendly matches for the Ghana national football team as part of preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana will be making their fifth appearance at the global tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico later this year.

The Black Stars will kick off their build-up with a friendly against Austria national football team on Friday, March 27, 2026, at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna. The match is scheduled to begin at 17:00 GMT.

Ghana will then travel to Stuttgart to face Germany on Monday, March 30, at the MHP Arena.

In May, head coach Otto Addo will lead his side into another preparatory fixture against the Mexico national football team, although the venue and kick-off time for that encounter are yet to be confirmed.

The final warm-up game will see Ghana take on the Wales national football team on June 2 at the Cardiff City Stadium in Cardiff.

Ghana will head into the tournament aiming to improve on recent World Cup performances after exiting at the group stage in both the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The four-time African champions have been drawn in Group L alongside the Panama national football team, the England national football team and the Croatia national football team.

Ghana will open their campaign against Panama on June 17, before facing England on June 23. Their final group match will come against Croatia on June 27.
