2026 World Cup: It’s a tough group – Elisha Owusu on Black Stars’ Group L opponents
Black Stars midfielder Elisha Owusu has labelled Ghana’s 2026 World Cup group as a challenging one.
Drawn in Group L, the Black Stars will face Panama, England, and Croatia in the tournament co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico this summer.
Speaking on the draw, the Auxerre midfielder said: “It’s a strong group. A really, really strong group.
"Croatia and England are big teams, and Panama also has quality. I like it because we will have big games.”
Owusu emphasized Ghana’s ambition to make a significant impact at the tournament.
“Our main goal is to go far in the World Cup and to show the world that African football is feared," he added.
"We won’t go there just to participate; we want to perform with all humility and show the world what Ghana can do," he added.
The Black Stars are set to regroup in March for international friendlies against Austria and Germany as part of their World Cup preparations.
Ghana will kick off their 2026 World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17, face England on June 23, and round off the group stage with a match against Croatia on June 27.
