Karim Zito shaped my playing career - Dundee United midfielder Emmanuel Agyei

Dundee United midfielder Emmanuel Agyei has credited former Dreams FC coach Karim Zito as the defining influence in his development, describing their time together as a turning point in his career.

Agyei joined Dreams FC in October 2021 and made his senior debut a month later, coming off the bench in a 3-1 away victory over Elmina Sharks on November 7.

He went on to play a key role in the club’s historic 2023/24 campaign, helping the “Still Believe” side reach the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup.

His consistent displays during the competition earned him a place in the CAF Confederation Cup Team of the Week, further underlining his rise at the continental level.

Now 21, Agyei’s ability to operate both as a defensive midfielder and a centre-back has become one of his standout qualities — a trait he attributes to Zito’s trust and tactical demands.

“Playing in every position under Coach Karim Zito at Dreams FC shaped my career, and I am truly thankful for the experience," he told Asempa FM.

Agyei departed Dreams FC in 2024 for Israeli Premier League side Ashdod, where he made 27 appearances across two seasons.

He is currently with Scottish outfit Dundee United and has featured prominently since his arrival, starting seven of his first eight matches for the club.
