Anyetei Laryea Fights In US Nov 10

Commonwealth super bantamweight champion, Anyetei 'The Chameleon' Laryea, heads to New Jersey, US, to face Harold Jones on November 10 in a 10-round contest.

This comes weeks after he snatched the Commonwealth title from Isaac Ward in the UK via a fourth round knockout.
Laryea, 19-3, 8kos, who spoke to the Daily Graphic last Monday, said his ultimate aim was to challenge IBF champion, Stephen Moletor, thus winning this fight was very crucial for him.

The 30-year-old Ghanaian, who signed a contract for the fight on October 27 will hopefully leave Accra for the US next Saturday.

“I first will go to Atlanta where I will meet with my international manager, Dr Seth Pope, and train after which I will leave for New Jersey where the fight will be staged,” he said.

According to Laryea he has already seen a tape of Jones and is convinced of stopping him in the third round. “After I won the Commonwealth title Eshen Pickery offered to fight me in my voluntary defence scheduled for November 14, but he later chickened out because he was scared,” he told this paper.

Laryea said he resumed training immediately after his arrival in Accra about a fortnight ago at his Attoh Qaurshie Gym under his trainer, Alloway (Godwin Nii Dzanie Kotey).

The UK fight which secured Laryea the Commonwealth title was his first in one year after his victory over Ben Ayivor on October 28, 2006.
