Ghana’s national youth swimming team head to Angola for 4th African Youth Games
Ghana’s national youth swimming team has arrived in Luanda, Angola, ahead of the 4th African Youth Games, scheduled to run from December 10 to 20, 2025.
The Ghanaian contingent is made up of four swimmers — Kelvin Abdallah, Mercedes Abdallah, Oduma Agyei and Tamba Akin Boamah — under the guidance of head coach Jonathan Amoako-Atta, with Charles Mensah serving as team leader.
The multi-sport continental showpiece will be hosted across six cities — Luanda, Benguela, Lubango, Huambo, Moçâmedes and Caxito — with swimming events taking place from December 11 to 16.
In the girls’ category, Oduma Agyei will compete in the 50m freeclass, 50m butterfly and 100m freeclass. Mercedes Abdallah faces a demanding programme, featuring in the 50m butterfly, 50m freeclass, 50m backstroke, 100m backstroke and the 200m individual medley.
On the boys’ side, Tamba Akin Boamah is scheduled for seven races, including the 100m breaststroke, 50m butterfly, 100m freeclass, 200m breaststroke, 50m breaststroke, 50m freeclass and the 200m individual medley. Kelvin Abdallah will also be in action in four events — the 50m freeclass, 50m butterfly, 100m freeclass and 100m butterfly.
