2025/26 GPL Matchday 14 Wrap Up: Asante Kotoko snatch late win against Dreams FC as Holy Stars cruise over FC Samartex

Matchday 14 of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League delivered a round of compelling results across the country, with several sides either strengthening their title push or finding timely relief from recent struggles.

At the Kpando Sports Stadium, Heart of Lions suffered their first home defeat of the season, going down 1-0 to Aduana FC. Patrick Mensah struck in the second half to hand the two-time champions all three points and end the hosts’ impressive unbeaten run on home soil.

Hearts of Oak returned to winning ways at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium with a narrow 1-0 victory over Nations FC on Saturday. After a cagey opening half, Hamza Issah’s second-half effort proved decisive as the Phobians snapped their winless streak.

Basake Holy Stars were convincing on Sunday, recording a 2-0 win over FC Samartex. Simba Sylvester was the standout performer, firing a first-half brace to secure a comfortable home victory.

Bechem United also bounced back at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park, edging relegation-threatened Eleven Wonders 1-0. With the game locked at 0-0 at the break, Augustine Afranie Mensah calmly converted a second-half penalty to separate the sides.

At the Golden City Park, Berekum Chelsea returned to winning ways after seeing off Hohoe United 1-0. Prince Anane’s 78th-minute strike broke the deadlock following a goalless first half.

Swedru All Blacks continued their resurgence with a solid 2-0 win over Vision FC at the Swedru Sports Stadium. Clement Tutu opened the scoring in the 40th minute before David Ofori’s second-half own goal sealed the result for the hosts.

Young Apostles claimed a 2-1 victory over Karela United at the Wenchi Sports Stadium. Ali Abdul Ganiwu gave the hosts an early lead, but Felix Mortu drew Karela level before the break. Issah Nyaabila struck four minutes into the second half to restore Young Apostles’ advantage and secure the win.

Asante Kotoko left it late at the Baba Yara Stadium, edging Dreams FC 1-0. After a scoreless first half, Kwame Opoku found the net in the 80th minute to guide the Porcupine Warriors back to winning ways.

The fixture between Bibiani GoldStars and Medeama SC was postponed.

After 14 matches, Aduana FC, Medeama SC, Asante Kotoko and Heart of Lions occupy the top four positions on the league table, while Dreams FC, Bechem United and Eleven Wonders remain in the relegation zone.
