Emmanuel Agyei: Meet the FC Ashdod defender pushing for Black Stars call up

Emmanuel Agyei is rapidly emerging as one of Ghana’s brightest young football talents, a commanding midfielder whose steady rise has caught the attention of scouts and fans alike, as he edges closer to a potential Black Stars call-up ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Born on November 3, 2004, the 1.88-metre left-footer combines physical presence with composure, dictating play from the heart of midfield. Agyei’s journey began with Shalom FC in Ghana’s lower divisions before he earned a move to Dreams FC, where his vision, strength, and calmness under pressure quickly made him stand out.

Between 2021 and 2024, he made 60 appearances for Dreams FC, playing a pivotal role in their 2022/23 FA Cup triumph and their remarkable run to the CAF Confederation Cup semifinals in the 2023/24 season. On the international stage, he helped Ghana’s U-20 team clinch gold at the 2024 African Games, further cementing his reputation as one of the country’s most promising prospects.

Agyei’s rising stock earned him a transfer abroad in August 2024, signing a long-term deal with Israeli Premier League side FC Ashdod that will see him at the club until 2029.

Known for crisp passing, precise ball control, and an eye for goal-threatening positions, Agyei is equally comfortable playing at left-back, showcasing versatility that adds further value to his game. According to Transfermarkt, his market value currently sits at €250,000, reflecting both his potential and growing interest from clubs and national selectors.

With his maturity, technical ability, and ambition, Emmanuel Agyei is steadily positioning himself as a strong contender for a future spot in the Black Stars.
