2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Shut up - Sannie Daara takes swipe at Kofi Adams over Black Stars budget disclosure
Former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Ibrahim Sannie Daara, has criticized Sports Minister Kofi Adams for publicly revealing the Black Stars’ budget ahead of crucial World Cup qualifiers.
Daara’s comments follow Ghana’s 1-1 draw against Chad in Matchday 7 of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Jordan Ayew had given the Black Stars an early lead in the 17th minute, only for Celestine Ecau to equalize two minutes before full time, leaving both teams with a point.
Ahead of the qualifiers, Minister Adams had disclosed the budget allocated for the national team’s two matches this month, a move Daara describes as poorly timed.
"Which military in the history of mankind has been so foolish to announce the reduction of salaries for soldiers before a war?
"The timing of the Black Stars' budget was completely needless.
"A lot of people in teh Minister's own party, the NDC, are disappointed with the timing of the release of the Black Stars budget."
Daara further urged the Buem Constituency MP to refrain from actions that could create tension within the team.
"The Sports Minister, Kofi Adams, should shut up. He should let the Black Stars players focus on the World Cup qualifiers."
The Black Stars have now returned to Ghana as they prepare for Matchday 8 against Mali on Monday at the Accra Sports Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 19:00 GMT.
Despite the setback against Chad, Ghana remain atop Group I with 16 points.
