Baba Yara Sports Stadium to host 2025 Rapperholic Concert on September 27

Ghanaian rap icon Michael Owusu Addo, popularly known as Sarkodie, has officially announced plans to stage his flagship Rapperholic Concert in Kumasi for the first time.

The much-anticipated event is scheduled to take place at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on September 27, 2025.

As part of preparations, Sarkodie led a delegation to the Manhyia Palace on Friday, July 19, to formally seek the blessing of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Speaking during the visit, Sarkodie revealed that bringing Rapperholic to the Ashanti Region has been a long-held dream, one he has been nurturing for more than a decade.

“For nearly 12 years, I’ve been planning to bring Rapperholic to Kumasi. This year, I felt it was finally time. I came to humbly ask for your blessing and support, Nana,” Sarkodie told the Asantehene.

In response, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II welcomed Sarkodie and pledged his full support for the concert, encouraging him to remain grounded in his career.

“I am happy to see you again. May your career continue to flourish. Stay humble and true to yourself. I will be there to witness it myself,” the King assured.

However, the upcoming concert has raised concerns over scheduling, as it comes just weeks before crucial continental fixtures involving Asante Kotoko, who also use the Baba Yara Stadium for CAF Confederation Cup and domestic matches.

Despite these concerns, the National Sports Authority (NSA) is expected to implement measures to protect the stadium’s playing surface ahead of the event.
