AshantiGold SC return to competitive football, set to compete in 2025/26 Division One League
Former Ghana Premier League giants, AshantiGold SC, are making a return to competitive football as they prepare to participate in the upcoming Division One League (Zone Two) campaign.
The Obuasi-based club, known as the Miners, were suspended from all football activities following a high-profile match-fixing scandal involving their final game of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season against Inter Allies.
Their suspension marked a difficult chapter for the former champions, who once dominated the domestic football scene.
Now reinstated, AshantiGold are eager to restore their reputation and reestablish themselves as a force in Ghanaian football. Their return is expected to add intensity to what is shaping up to be one of the most competitive Division One League seasons in recent history.
The Miners’ comeback also finalizes the Zone Two lineup, with Police National FC securing the last slot after winning the Central Regional Division Two Middle League final over the weekend.
