Real Madrid eye move for Ghanaian defender Oscar Oppong
Spanish giants Real Madrid are reportedly lining up a summer move for highly-rated Ghanaian defender Oscar Naasei Oppong.
The 20-year-old, who signed a contract extension with Granada in 2023 that runs until 2026, has attracted interest from Real Madrid’s reserve team, Castilla, following an impressive campaign in Spain’s Segunda División.
According to Spanish outlet Marca, Castilla head coach Álvaro Arbeloa has personally recommended Oppong as a potential addition to the squad.
Granada are believed to be open to negotiations, with a potential transfer fee estimated between €450,000 and €1 million.
Oppong made his senior debut for Granada in October 2024 against Levante UD and went on to make nine appearances in La Liga 2, in addition to featuring in the Copa del Rey.
While still early in his professional career, the defender’s performances have impressed enough to catch the attention of the reigning Spanish champions.
On the international front, Oppong has earned a call-up to Ghana’s U20 national team for the upcoming WAFU Zone A and B tournament later this year.
