Ghana climbs in latest FIFA rankings after strong start to 2025

Ghana has made progress in the latest FIFA rankings, marking its first upward movement since July 2024, when the Black Stars rose from 64th to 60th place.

In the latest update, Ghana has climbed to 76th in the global rankings, improving from the 77th position they held since November 2024.

This positive shift follows the Black Stars' impressive start to the 2025 calendar year during the recent international break.

Ghana secured crucial victories over Chad and Madagascar in the Matchdays 5 and 6 games of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

As a result, Ghana has overtaken Israel, who dropped two places in the rankings.

Despite the global improvement, Ghana’s position in the continental rankings remains unchanged. The Black Stars continue to occupy 14th place in Africa.

Head coach Otto Addo will aim to further boost the team’s ranking when Ghana returns to action later this year.

The Black Stars are set to participate in a four-nation tournament in June before facing Chad and Mali in Matchdays 7 and 8 of the World Cup qualifiers in September.
