Kofi Adams must restructure Black Stars' winning bonus - Kudjoe Fianoo

Kudjoe Fianoo, the former chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), has called on Kofi Adams, the Minister-designate for Sports and Recreation, to overhaul the Black Stars’ winning bonus structure.

The bonuses for the national football team have sparked ongoing debates, with some believing certain players are more motivated by the financial incentives than the desire to represent the country.

Currently, players receive winning and qualification bonuses ahead of major tournaments.

While some have proposed eliminating the bonus payments entirely, Fianoo has urged Adams, the Member of Parliament for Buem, to reform the current system.

In an interview with Sporty FM, Fianoo stated, "I want the new Sports Minister [Kofi Adams] to handle this issue of co-efficient.

"He must restructure the bonus structure of the Black Stars," he added.

Adams is expected to be approved by Parliament after passing the vetting process. If confirmed, he will succeed Mustapha Ussif, who served as Sports Minister from 2021 to 2024.
