Bright Kankam Boadu clinches SWAG Sports Journalist of the Year Award

Bright Kankam Boadu, Head of Sports at Pure FM, was named Sports Journalist of the Year at the 49th Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Awards, held on Friday, January 24, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre.

Boadu, a former Head of Sports at Nhyira FM, triumphed over competitors including Fentuo Tahiru, Bill Eshun, Kelvin Owusu Ansah, and Janet Nana Akua Amankwaa.

On the same night, Ghanaian high jumper Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah dominated the awards, securing both the Female Athlete of the Year and Sports Personality of the Year titles.

Barcelona B’s Abdul Aziz Issah also earned recognition, winning both the Prospect of the Year and Male Footballer of the Year awards.

The SWAG Awards, the country’s longest-running sports recognition event, celebrated athletes and sports figures who made significant contributions and brought honour to Ghana in 2024.
