2024/25 GPL Matchday 16 Wrap Up: Medeama held at home by Asante Kotoko as Bechen United hammer Heart of Lions to end unbeaten run

The Matchday 16 games of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League have ended at the various stadia with interesting results.

The games kicked off on Friday night with Hearts of Oak beating relegation-threatened Legin Cities 1-0 to maintain their impressive run.

Ahmed Ramzy Yussif's lone goal in the 45th minute was enough for the Phobian Club.

On Saturday, Bibiani GoldStars at the DUN's Park recorded a 2-0 win over Berekum Chelsea. After a goalless first half, GoldStars found the back of the net after recess with Gideon Anaba breaking the deadlock in the 72nd minute before Seidu Mohammed scored an own goal to double the lead of Gold Stars on 85 minutes.

On Sunday, Medeama SC at the TNA Park were held to a 1-1 draw against Asante Kotoko. Returnee striker, Kwame Opoku gave Kotoko the lead in the 44th minute to end the first half 1-0.

After recess, Medeama found their rhythm with substitute Kamaradini Mamudu, who levelled the score midway through the second half.

At the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park, Bechem United crashed Heart of Lions 3-0 to end their unbeaten run. Darlvin Yeboah broke the deadlock late in the first half. The Hunters doubled their lead moments before halftime through Emmanuel Abban.

The home side maintained their intensity in the second half, and Abban struck again in the 71st minute to seal his brace and an emphatic victory.

At the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, Nations FC stunned Basake Holy Stars 3-1. Defender Razak Simpson opened the scoring in the 7th minute to end the first half 1-0.

After recess, Faisal Charwetey doubled the advantage with a clinical finish in the 51st minute. The visitors pulled one back in the game through Emmanuel Agyei in the 59th minute.

However, Emmanuel Annor added the third goal for Nations with a sublime volley in the 88th minute to wrap up the win.

Elsewhere, Young Apostles at the Wenchi Sports Stadium defeated Karela United 2-0. Samuel Prempeh broke the deadlock on 35 minutes to give Apostles the lead before the break. The hosts doubled their lead through a set piece in the 64th minute to seal their first win in five matches.

Vision FC at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex stunned Nsoatreman FC by a lone goal. Abdul Sulemana's 7th minute strike secured the win for the home side.

Aduana FC at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park in Dormaa suffered a 1-0 defeat against defending champions, FC Samartex.

After a goalless first half, goalkeeper Masawudu Inusah was sent off to leave Aduana with 10 players.

However, in the 76th minute, Solomon Agyei scored for the Timber Giants to end their five-match winless run.

Dreams FC at the Tuba Astro Turf returned to winning ways with a 1-0 win over Accra Lions. Kelvin Ahiable's 71st minute secured the win for the home side.

Meanwhile, Accra Lions ended the game with 10 players after Edmond Amakye was sent off in the 63rd minute.

Heart of Lions, Bibiani GoldStars, Nations FC and Bechem United occupy the top four spots while Nsoatreman FC, Accra Lions and Legon Cities sit in the relegation zone.
