Accra Lions Sporting Director Ibrahim Tanko disappointed after 3-2 loss to Hearts of Oak
Accra Lions Sporting Director Ibrahim Tanko has voiced his disappointment following his team’s narrow 3-2 defeat to Hearts of Oak on Matchday 15 of the Ghana Premier League.
The Lions hosted the Phobians at the WAFA Park in Sogakope on Sunday afternoon. Despite taking an early lead, Hearts of Oak staged a comeback, with substitute Mawuli Wayo scoring twice in quick succession to secure victory for the visitors.
Reflecting on the match, Tanko acknowledged the team’s struggles but vowed to make improvements ahead of their next fixture against Dreams FC.
“I think we started very well until the time they scored and it was a very tough game for us today but I think in the end they deserved to win more than us,” Tanko said.
While disappointed with the result, he praised his players' efforts on the pitch.
“I’m disappointed in the score line but in terms of the performance, I think they did very well and so we have to go and do our homework for the next game against Dreams FC.
Tanko also emphasized the need for his team to capitalize on scoring opportunities.
“We have learnt that we have to score. If you score one and the chance comes you have to score and in the premier league you have to score more goals to win.
