Match Report: Ghana’s Black Stars set to miss 2025 AFCON after 2-0 defeat to Sudan

The Black Stars of Ghana have suffered a 2-0 defeat to Sudan in the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The male football national team of Ghana locked horns with Sudan today in Round 4 of the qualifiers for the next edition of the AFCON.

The game was played in Libya, five days after Sudan held Ghana to a goalless draw in the first meeting of the qualifiers at the Accra Sports Stadium.

In the contest today, Ghana urgently needed a win to get back on track in the qualifiers for the AFCON tournament.

Unfortunately, a resilient display from Sudan denied Ghana even a draw to secure a point.

The first half of the encounter ended in a draw before two goals from Ahmed Al-Tash and Mohammed Abdel Raman propelled Sudan to secure a delightful 2-0 victory at the end of the 90 minutes.

The defeat means Ghana is in danger of missing the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

The Black Stars have just two points from four matches and sit third in the Group F standings.

For Ghana to qualify, Sudan must drop points in their last two games of the qualifiers in Group F.
