2025 AFCON Qualifiers: Black Stars can beat Sudan convincingly in Libya, says CK Akonnor

CK Akonnor remains confident that the Black Stars can beat Sudan convincingly to revive their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification chances.

Ghana were held to a goalless scoreline against the Falcons in the first leg of their doubleheader on Thursday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

This result has significantly impacted Ghana's chances of qualifying for the upcoming tournament that will be hosted in Morocco next year.

With the second leg tie slated for Tuesday, October 15, Akonnor beleives the Black Stars can record a convincing win against Kwesi Appiah's side.

“It’s a challenging period we find ourselves in, but it’s important we stick together and support the team," Akonnor told Joy Sports.

“It is important we win our remaining matches. Sudan are a good team coached by someone we all know and respect. I however believe we can win.

“This Ghana side is capable of winning and winning convincingly. We just need to support him."

Currently sitting third in Group F, Ghana's path to qualification hinges on winning all three of their remaining matches.

The game will be staged at the Martyrs of February Stadium with kick-off slated for 13:00 GMT.
