Youngster Ibrahim Sadiq shines as highest rated Ghanaian Player Abroad after stellar AZ Alkmaar performance
Winger Ibrahim Sadiq has been crowned the highest-rated Ghanaian Player Abroad for the weekend, following a remarkable display for AZ Alkmaar in the Dutch Eredivisie.
Sadiq, one of Ghana’s brightest young talents, was a standout player for AZ Alkmaar in their Round 5 clash against Heerenveen on Saturday.
The match, played at the AFAS Stadium, saw Sadiq deliver a masterclass performance, scoring a goal in the second half and providing two assists to guide his team to an emphatic 9-1 victory.
His dazzling display earned him an impressive 9.4 rating from SofaScore, making him the top-rated Ghanaian player for the period between September 12 and September 14.
Among several Ghanaian players monitored, Sadiq's performance stood head and shoulders above the rest. The weekend saw only two players from the last Black Stars squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers make it into the top 10. These were defender Jerome Opoku and striker Inaki Williams.
Other standout Ghanaian players who earned spots in the top 10 include Emmanuel Boateng, Samuel Gidi, Zubeiru Ibrahim, and Eric Ocansey, showcasing their quality in various European leagues.
As Ghana prepares for its crucial 2025 AFCON qualifiers, Black Stars coach Otto Addo is likely keeping a close eye on these performances. With must-win games against Sudan on the horizon, Addo will be looking to call upon the best talents to secure qualification for the tournament in Morocco.
Ibrahim Sadiq’s stunning form could see him make a strong case for inclusion in the squad, as the Black Stars gear up for the challenges ahead.
