2025 AFCON Qualifiers: It will be difficult games - Thomas Partey on playing against Angola and Niger

Thomas Partey, captain of the Black Stars, is bracing for challenging matches against Angola and Niger in the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Ghana, a four-time AFCON champion, will kick off their qualifying campaign with a match against Angola later tonight at the Baba Yara Stadium.

They will then travel to Berkane to face Niger in their second Group F match on Monday, September 9.

Looking ahead, Partey acknowledges the difficulty of the upcoming games but is confident in his team’s abilities.

“I think it will be difficult games but we have a good team. I have not watched our opponents but we have played against them and we know how difficult it is to play in Africa,” the 30-year-old told SuperSport

Partey emphasized the importance of demonstrating their quality and aiming for victory.

“I think we don’t have to be favourite but rather go out and show our quality and do our best and try to win because all we need is to qualify and if we don’t win, we don’t get to qualify so we have to go all out and win,” he added.

The Ghana vs. Angola match is set to kick off at 16:00 GMT.
