Playing in Africa was a good experience for Medeama SC – Board Chairman Tony Aubynn

Dr Tony Aubynn, the Chairman of the Medeama SC Board, believes that their participation in the CAF Champions League provided them with invaluable lessons.

The Ghana Premier League team competed in the prestigious CAF tournament during the 2023/24 season.

They were placed in Group D but did not advance past the group stage, finishing last with just four points. Al Ahly topped the group, while Young Africans and CR Belouizdad secured the second and third positions, respectively.

Despite their early exit, Dr Aubynn, a former member of the Ghana Football Executive, feels that the Yellow and Mauve gained significant experience from the competition.

“I think we made a mark, and the experience was very important to us," Dr Aubynn told Graphic Sports.

"I was in Egypt to watch our match against Al Ahly, and they were on their knees until a mistake by one of our players cost us

"But it was an important learning experience for the team,” he added.

As the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season approaches, Medeama SC will kick off their campaign with a home match against T&A Park on September 6.
