Renowned Ghanaian boxer Ayitey Powers has expressed bewilderment and deep sadness over the passing of renowned Nigerian preacher Prophet T.B. Joshua 3 years ago.

In an interview with Accra-based TV3 over the weekend, Ayitey Powers reflected on the mysterious circumstances surrounding TB Joshua's death at the age of 57.

"Sometimes when I think about his death, I realize that God works in mysterious ways. How could Prophet TB Joshua die at that age? He called me to visit his church, but I delayed, and he passed away," the retired boxer stated.

Ayitey Powers recalled how TB Joshua had told him he would not be celebrating his next birthday, a sign that in retrospect hinted at his impending death.

“He mentioned he wouldn’t celebrate his birthday, and we didn’t know he was going to die," said the ex-boxer.

"If I had known, we discussed many things together. So, TB Joshua’s death hurts me more than the death of my mother and father," remarked a clearly emotional Ayitey Powers.

As the founder and spiritual leader of The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) in Lagos, Prophet T.B. Joshua was one of Africa's most famous religious figures, with a large international following.

T.B. Joshua passed away on June 5, 2021 shortly following a live broadcast, as reported by the BBC.

His wife Evelyn Joshua stated that prior to his death, he did not display any signs of illness or symptoms.
