Black Stars: John Painstil, Fatau Dauda named as Otto Addo's assistants

Otto Addo has unveiled his Black Stars coaching staff, which includes Joseph Lauman, John Painstil, and Fatawu Dauda as assistant coaches.

Lauman, boasting a UEFA pro-license, brings a wealth of experience from his playing days in Cyprus, Germany, and Vietnam. His coaching journey includes spells with reputable clubs such as Standard Liege, VfL Bochum, and Barnsley in the English championship.

Joining Lauman are former Ghanaian football stars John Painstil and Fatawu Dauda. Painstil, renowned for his contributions to Fulham, West Ham United, and Kaizer Chiefs, retired from professional play after representing Ghana in two FIFA World Cup tournaments.

With 89 caps under his belt, Painstil is celebrated as a Ghanaian legend, having also captained the team and clinched Bronze in the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations. Prior to this appointment, he served as an assistant coach at Kaizer Chiefs and holds a CAF Licence B.

Meanwhile, Fatawu Dauda, with his extensive career as a goalkeeper for Voradep, Okwahu United, AshantiGold, and Orlando Pirates, brings 23 international appearances and experience from the 2014 World Cup in Brazil to the coaching setup.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) expresses its commitment to providing unwavering support to the new technical team, aiming to foster their success.

Additionally, the GFA urges Ghanaians to demonstrate patience and wholehearted support as the nation embarks on a journey of rebuilding.

Meanwhile, Otto Addo has announced a 26-man squad for the upcoming friendly games against Uganda and Nigeria later this month with Inaki Williams and Daniel Amartey.
