2023/24 GHPL: Hearts of Oak confirm Kofi Agbesimah as new club captain
Hearts of Oak have announced defender Kofi Agbesimah as their new captain, signalling a significant shift in leadership for the Phobians under the guidance of newly appointed Ivorian coach Aboubakar Ouattara.
The former Bechem United defender will now wear the captain's armband, taking over from Gladson Awako, who recently moved to city rivals Great Olympics during the second transfer window.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Richard Attah has been named as the second deputy captain.
Agbesimah, aged 26, joined Hearts of Oak at the start of the 2023/24 season and has quickly established himself as a pivotal figure in the squad, with 18 appearances showcasing his leadership qualities.
His previous experience as a leader during his time at Bechem United undoubtedly contributed to his selection as the new captain.
Attah, a seasoned player for Hearts of Oak, brings a wealth of experience and stability to the team's leadership structure.
Kelvin Osei Assibey, a recent recruit from Eleven Wonders, has already made a notable impact, bolstering the defense and earning recognition as a rising talent.
Under Coach Ouattara's guidance, the Hearts of Oak squad is preparing for their upcoming match against Bofoakwa Tano on Sunday at 3 pm at the Baba Yara Stadium.
