Augustine Eguavoen appointed as interim Nigeria head coach
The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Augustine Eguavoen, the former Super Eagles head coach, as the interim Head Coach, following the departure of Jose Peseiro whose contract expired.
This decision comes swiftly after Peseiro's exit, following his leadership of the Super Eagles to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where they narrowly missed out on the title to Ivory Coast.
Eguavoen, aged 58, will be at the helm for the upcoming Super Eagles matches during the March international window.
This marks his return to the role, having previously guided the team to a bronze medal in the 2006 AFCON and overseeing their participation in the Round of 16 at AFCON 2021.
