Dr. Kofi Amoah wants $25 million Black Stars investment channeled into local league, juvenile football
Business mogul Dr. Kofi Amoah is advocating for the planned $25 million investment into the Black Stars to be channeled into the local league and development of juvenile football.
The President of the Republic, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at a breakfast meeting with officials of the Ghana FA and CEO’s from the corporate space is seeking to raise some $25 million to push the Black Stars ahead of the 2021 AFCON and the 2022 FIFA World Cup to ensure the team succeeds.
Speaking in an interview with Bernard Avle on Citi TV, Dr. Kofi Amoah has kicked against the idea.
When asked if he supports the decision, he answered, “No! Strengthen your local league, starting from juvenile football, Samuel Osei Kuffour, Michael Essien all of these people, this is where they got their strength.”
Dr. Kofi Amoah continued, “When the Germans saw that their football is going at downhill they said time out, we need to think, it took them 11 years but they won the world cup in Brazil.
“Ghana can win the world cup because we have the talents but the organization of the approach is the wrong one and I hope that my friends at the Ghana football association (GFA) are not going to be angry with me and fix it.”
