NSA Planning To Sell Naming Rights Of Accra Sports Stadium, Others

The National Sports Authority (NSA) has planned to sell the naming rights of the Accra Sports Stadium as well as other national stadia to generate funds, Modernghana Sports can report.

According to a report by Accra-based Angel FM, the NSA is ready to sell the rights of these stadia to any private company and individual who expresses interest to serve as a means to raise funds to maintain the government-owned facilities.

It is understood that the Sports Authority has set a price range between $1.5 million to 3 million for the naming rights to the Accra Sports Stadium and the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in particular.

In a related development, the family of celebrated sports administrator Ohene Gyan has petitioned the Presidency to have the name of the Accra Sports Stadium reverted to Ohene Gyan Stadium.

The Stadium was named the Ohene Gyan Sports Stadium prior to the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations tournament but was later changed to the Accra Sports Stadium in 2011 when a new government took over.

The family of the late Ohene Gyan says the right thing should be done for the name to be changed again.
