I Lost AMVCA Because I Wasn't Strong On Social Media – Ramsey Nouah

Legendary Nollywood actor Ramsey Nouah has opened up about his loss at the Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards, revealing that the winner edged him out due to social media strength.

He made the disclosure during an appearance on the Curiosity Made Me Ask podcast, hosted by content creator Bae U Barbie.

Nouah recalled that he was nominated in the Best Actor category in 2011 for his performance in the historical drama '76', but he did not win. He explained that at the time, the award was predominantly decided by viewers' choice, and the individual who was stronger on social media won.

He noted that he was nominated alongside veteran actors RMD and the late Olu Jacobs, but the winner beat all of them because they were not as active on social media then.

The actor added that the award structure has since evolved, with a balance between the jury and the viewers, unlike the purely viewer-driven format of that era.

"I never won an AMVCA. I was nominated for best actor in 76 and I lost. At the time, it was predominantly viewers choice award. Now, you can have the balance of the jury and then the viewers."

"At that time it was predominantly viewers and the guy who was stronger on social media got it over us. And the nominees were myself, RMD, Uncle Olu Jacobs and the guy won every one of us because we weren't strong on social media at the time."
