I'm Nobody Without Nigerian Language And Culture – Paul Okoye Distances Himself from Brother's Controversy
Nigerian singer Paul Okoye has distanced himself from his twin brother Peter Okoye's recent comments about Nigerian languages.
The Nigerian Voice recently reported that Peter Okoye sparked backlash after dismissing the value of Nigerian languages in response to a fan who asked if his children could speak Igbo.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Paul Okoye declared that he is 100% proudly Igbo and Nigerian, stating that he is a "nobody" without the culture and native language.
His statement stands in contrast to his brother's earlier remark, which had drawn criticism from many who felt it was disrespectful to Nigerian languages.
He wrote:
"100% proudly Igbo. 100% proudly Nigerian. I'm a 'nobody', I repeat!! A nobody!!, without the culture, native language. 100% proudly Nigerian. 100% proudly Igbo."
