Yahsat Launches YahClick Broadband Internet Service

Africa’s number one satellite internet service provider, Yahsat is coming as a strong competitor to offer satellite broadband solutions which provide a significantly more reliable service compared to some terrestrial internet services in Ghana and Africa.

Reports suggest each communication disruption costs the country approximately $6.3million a day, with shutdowns expected to total 22 days in 2018.

It is on this background that Yahsat has launched YahClick which uses the Ka-band satellite frequency, reusable and powered by multi-spot beam technology.

Speaking at a press briefing in Accra, the Country Manager of Yahsat, Africa, Devner Batman said the Ka-band enables the delivery of higher broadband capacity at faster speeds to smaller dishes.

“The fact that we can reuse the Ka-band frequency and deliver to small dishes results in cheaper installation costs. This ultimately enables us to provide a cost-effective service through our Service Partners such as Comsys and Teledata,” he stated.

Mr. Batman noted that with an uptime availability of 99.5%, the reliability of broadband satellite internet is the key differentiator between the two forms of internet connectivity services.

He added that the reliability of the YahClick connection sets it apart from terrestrial services because of the state-of-the-art satellite communications technology it deploys.

Mr. Batman indicated that key industries that are likely to benefit from YahClick will be banking, finance, mining and Oil & Gas.

However, he said Government as well as rest of the industries such as Healthcare, Education, Hospitality and businesses can also find YahClick to be extremely valuable for their operations.

“YahClick’s mission is to provide the best internet connectivity service, delivered by our trusted in-market Service Partners to our users. That’s why you’ll find a wide range of internet plans with speeds, prices and service levels tailored to meet all categories of customers,” the Country Manager posited.

As the world’s 7th largest satellite operator in revenue terms, he opined that YahClick has been a game-changer in the satellite communications industry because it not only provides reliable, high-speed and affordable internet service but has also facilitated connectivity in unserved and underserved areas where poor telecommunications infrastructure has affected their growth.

“We are certain that YahClick will bring a more robust internet infrastructure in Ghana, and the impact across businesses, communities and government will be significant. Overall it will contribute to making Ghana a more attractive investment prospect,” he intimated.

Cost Effective
According to him, by bringing an affordable service to Ghana, they are ensuring that the desired change required in country doesn’t come at a high price.

Mr. Batman indicated that the difference between YahClick amongst other internet service providers is huge in the sense that it offers flexible and variable service plans to different industries through local service providers per their specific requirements.

He added that service partners such as Comsys and Teledata ICT will manage the YahClick system centrally via an online operations system eliminating the need for in-country infrastructure, saving considerable costs that are passed on to the end customer.

Mr. Batman emphasized that the network as a whole is managed from a central Network Operations Center in Abu Dhabi, fully backed up 24/7 in cooperation with Hughes Network Systems.

He concluded that YahClick covers over 28 countries across the Middle East, Africa, South West and Central Asia and is currently available in 19 countries.
