Retired Staff Of Ghana Highway Call On New CEO

A delegation from the Ghana Highway Authority Retired Staff Association (GHARSA) has paid a courtesy call on the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Highway Authority, Ing. Kingsley Jojo Arthur.

Members of the delegation included Nana Ninsin-Imbeah II, Mr. John Anafo and Ing. R. T. Mensah; Interim National Coordinating Committee Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer respectively. Others were Mr. Francis H. Baidoo - Chairman and Thomas Ayitiah - Organising Secretary both of the Greater Accra Regional and Head Office branch of GHARSA.

The Interim National Coordinating Committee (INCC) Chairman, Nana Ninsin -Imbeah II, who lead the five-member delegation told journalists that the purpose of their visit was to congratulate Ing. Arthur on his appointment as the new CEO of the Highway Authority and also introduce the young association to him.

Nana Imbeah II said the Interim Coordinating Committee of GHARSA saw the need in meeting the new chief executive on how to make the association stronger and attractive to potential members.

He further argued that liaising with the current leadership of Highway Authority, especially the Chief Executive can help bring on board all past and future retired staff of the Highway institution to the GHARSA family.

Nana Ninsin- Imbeah II, described the delegation's encounter with the CEO as very fruitful stating that parties discussed matters of mutual interests.

He disclosed that the Chief Executive welcomed the move and congratulated the interim coordinating committee for bringing the association into being and pledged his full support to ensure the growth of the association.

The Interim National Chairman said the Ghana Highway Authority since its establishment over 43 years ago had no retired staff association for its young staff to consult for ideas and directions in the cause of their service to the state.

He said some few retired staff including himself took the bold initiative some three years back.

Nana Imbeah II opines that the absence of a retired staff association over the years has denied the highway authority and the state the good benefits that the state could have derived from the retired staff of the authority all this while.

The Interim Chairman indicated that with the coming forth of the association, the young and active staff of the authority can now tap into the rich experience and expertise of their senior fellows to the benefit of the state.

The retired Ashanti regional Highway Surveyor pointed out the Ghana Highway Authority can now consult with the association in diverse areas of its operations as the association is made up of all stream personnel.

He disclosed that the association is currently established in five regions across the country with over 900 members and still counting.

Nana Imbeah added that the interim coordinating committee has therefore been mandated to go round the remaining five regions to ensure that the association is established there as well.

He also hinted that the committee has also been tasked to help put up a national constitution for the association.
