Winneba High Court Judge Has Caused UEW More Harm Than Good and The Current Government Is Happy

Come and see ooooo! Come and see the gargantuan corruption and malfeasance happening in the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) after the Winneba High Court Judge has appointed an Ag. VC to manage the affairs of UEW. I am sure you will all agree with me that any Judge on this earth can scheme a judgement and will even have deciding cases to support his/her judgement. That was exactly what the Winneba High Court Judge, Justice George Atto Mills-Graves did when he granted an injunction application and asked the Pro VC (who has had a dream of becoming a VC) of UEW to step in the shoes of the VC. Anas has to investigate corrupt judges in Ghana again because some of them are still… Let me chronicle the current happenings in UEW and you can judge for yourself what is really happening under the watch of a man of God who is supposingly coming to fight corruption.

  1. After the injunction application was granted by the Winneba High Court, within few days, the Ag. VC made some reshufflings and revoked some appointments made by a substantive VC. For instance, Jones Appiah-Kubi (whose house the cabal normally meet to plan their tribal Coup d'état) was made the Ag. Director of Radio Windy Bay and the Ag. Director of Radio Windy Bay was moved to the payroll unit.
  2. Jones Appiah-Kubi was granted study leave with pay to pursue an M.A. programme. After his M.A., he decided to do a top up for an M.Phil. He wanted the University to pay for his expenses for the M.Phil. but he was told that he has to serve the University for a certain period before he could be supported for his M.Phil. programme. This is in line with university policy and has always been applied without exception, except in an era that we have an Ag VC who is directed by political agents on what should be done. After the injunction application was granted, Jones Appiah-Kubi applied for payment of his M.Phil. expenses and the Ag. VC. approved it but when it got to the finance section, the payment was not sanctioned initially because of financial regulations governing UEW expenses. I learnt when the application was returned to Ag. VC, he gave a proviso for the payment which finance section had to comply. So without due diligence, a gargantuan amount was paid to Jones Appiah-Kubi who is in the camp of the Effutu MP. It is an open secret that Effutu MP is behind the sad state of UEW currently.
  3. A Benz car belonging to UEW is now at the disposal of a council member, Nana Ghartey, the Chief of Effutu. UEW council paid a visit to Kumasi Campus recently and UEW has to assign a driver to chauffeur Nana Ghartey, a council member to Kumasi in the Benz car. If the expenses on the driver and the car is not corruption, then you can judge for yourself. The Benz car at the disposal of the Chief may seem to be a promise come true when Hon. Alex Afenyo Markin promised chiefs cars during his campaign for re-election last year. When the Ag. VC too was scheming to get the VCship in 2015, he promised Nana Ghartey that he will buy him a car if he supports him to get the VC position. The chief wrote to the flagstaff house that Effutu wants the man in BLACK CASSOCK. Now the man in BLACK CASSOCK is acting so the chief has UEW Benz at his disposal. This is the Catholic Priest, who is fighting corruption. God have mercy on his SOUL.
  4. Because of the UEW impasse, UEW council chairman is just calling for meetings of which allowances are paid. Definitely, he is himself is lining up his pocket since one term as Pro VC did not help him enough. These are the guys supposed to be ensuring financial sanity into UEW. God, be where you are for now for some people to repent before you come.
  5. Hon. Alex Afenyo Markin needs to be informed before any council meeting or management meeting. How can Profs stoop so low because of their stomach? Lol. Apparently UEW has become an annex of the NPP office in Winneba. This is sad indeed and Professors including specialists in CHARCOAL are blindly following for assurance of positions…I hope we remember that day when these positions mean nothing again.
  6. Ag. VC knowing, he has the backing of the current government decided to make corrupt appointments based on the …isms (nepotism, favouritism, tribalism, politicism, etc.) and incompetence. This is not too unseal of him since his very being approves of these kinds of attitudes.

Now, let me veer off a little bit. As of now, Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) and Bureau of National Investigations (B.N.I.) have come to find out whether there is any criminality that could be found against the VC and the FO. For now, let us wait for their reports. Let me take this opportunity to say ayeeko to staff who normally make photocopies for EOCO and BNI. Once again, let me put it on record that most of the procurement allegations by Supi who is fronting for a self-seeking, greedy and corrupt M.P., Hon. Alex Afenyo Markin were not sanctioned by Prof. Avoke. Also, let me put it on record again that the current government through Hon. Afenyo is bent on using the court system to oust the VC, Prof. Avoke, and the FO, Dr. Ackorlie. What they want to do now is to let Winneba High Court pass judgement on October 11, 2017 asking the VC and the FO to relinquish their posts and ask the Ag. VC to finish Prof. Avoke’s first term. Because of this article, they are likely to change their vicious plan. The scheme is, if the Winneba High Court gives a shambolic judgement, going for appeal and the judicial gymnastics, the Ag. VC will still be in charge of affairs. The University’s lawyer, Peter R. Zwennes who is a member of the Ghana Immigration Service Council (appointed by the current government) and who has publicly demonstrated that there is no professionalism in his attitude towards the case (by way of utterances) is also to be part of the scheme and his role is to intentionally commit a blunder during the court proceedings and the case will turn in favour of Supi and co. With their getting these two innocent young men out, the Council chairman would have succeeded in his revenge trip back to UEW, and the priest would have fulfilled his dream of being called VC. The Ag. VC smiles at every event without any sign of remorse and yet stands before people to preach Jesus.... I am always grateful that I am not a Catholic, and surprised with the Catholic Church who criticised every national issue over their silence on this misconduct of their member. We wait to see the end of this mission. As for the morons like Alhassan Salifu Bawah, they don’t mean well for UEW. Bawah is usually myopic in his write-ups and he always try to shield the facts. In his last write-up, I really could not understand his accusations that people have no knowledge of English when apparently, he does not know the difference between BELIEVE and BELIEF. I am sure my class six daughter even knows this. He talks too much (mostly full of chaff, and thinks he knows so much English). I suppose he learnt that in Iraq while serving with the UK army. Please, the quotation below is from a speech delivered by the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. George K.T. Oduro at the UTAG National Congress and Handing Over Ceremony Held On Thursday, 22nd September, 2017, At The University of Cape Coast on the theme ‘Depoliticizing Ghana’s Education System: Towards a Policy Framework’.

“CASE 3: NPP ERA
This relates to some antecedents to the court ruling against the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba which has unfortunately created unnecessary tension on the campus of the University of Education, Winneba. Prior to the Court ruling that asked the Vice-Chancellor to step aside, the MP for the Effutu Constituency, Hon. Alexander Afenyo Markins, managed to obtain a letter (dated 6th January 2017) from the Co-Chair of the Presidential Transitional Team, Hon Senior Minister, Ing Yaw Osafo-Maafo appointing him as the leader of the President’s Transition Team responsible for Transition activities in the University of Education, Winneba. By this arrangement, the University’s management was to submit a handing over note to Hon. Afenyo Markins. Thank God, the authorities later saw the technical hitches in this transitional arrangement and therefore did not push it. Mr. Chairman this scenario constitutes a calculated attempt by an individual using political machinery to undermine transitional provisions prescribed in the Act establishing the University and hiding behind party politics to interfere with the governance structures in a University. Mr. Chairman, the cases cited above are clear examples of politicization through interference in University management and governance.” I will make the full speech available later.
