Tamale NGO supports schools with learning materials
Tamale, Oct. 1, GNA - The Baptist Child Development Programmes (BCDP), a Tamale based Christian NGO, has supported eleven basic schools in it operational districts with educational materials to improve teaching and learning.
A total of 2,430 children in basic one, basic two and basic three as well as Kindergarten from the eleven schools received pencils, my first copy books, erasers and sharpeners while those in Upper primary took Note 1 exercise books and pens worth about GH¢ 37,000.
The beneficiary schools included Gbulahagu and Gbrimani basic schools in the Tolon district, Cheyohi, Bognaayili, Gupanarigu, Cheshegu and Nyerizegu in the Kumbungu district as well as Zanzugu Yapala, Kampong, Sankpala and Kusawgu in the Central Gonja district.
Mr James Amadu Kinyakib, Programme Manager of the BCDP speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Tamale at the weekend after the distribution of the materials to the schools, said the Christian Children's Fund of Canada (CCFC) a partner NGO funded the procurement of the materials for the distribution.
He said currently CCFC was supporting the BCDP for the construction a Early Child Development facility at Bognaayili in the Kumbungu District, which was nearing completion and assured that the two NGOs would collaborate effectively to ensure the provision of educational infrastructure in its operational districts.
Mr Kinyakib appealed to the Ghana Education Service (GES) to intensify its supervisory role in the districts to improve teaching and learning and stressed the need for judicious use of the materials to ensure that the intended purpose was achieved.
He thank CCFC for its continued support adding that BCDP would liaise with other development oriented organizations especially in the areas of education for improved educational facilities and infrastructure in its operational areas.
