UHAS inducts Professor John Owusu Agyapong as New Vice Chancellor
The University of Health and Allied Sciences has officially inducted Prof.John Owusu Gyapong of the University of Ghana into office as its second Vice Chancellor at the permanent campus of the University at Sokode-Lokoe, new Ho.
At the time of his appointment, Professor John Owusu Agyapong, a Professor of Epidemiology, was the serving his second term as the Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, in charge of Research Innovation and Development.
In his induction speech, Prof. Agyapong outlined his vision for the University, which includes facilitating a vibrant intellectual climate that stimulates innovation research and community engagement, promotion of multidisciplinary research in infectious diseases, chronic diseases, maternal and child health, policy and implementation research.
Other areas are promotion of integrated ICT-based teaching and learning through the development of e-learning platforms, stakeholder confidence building; and the continuation of implementation of plans to start new programmes in Pharmacy and Dentistry.
Professor John Owusu Agyapong takes over from the founding Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Fred Newton Binka whose reign at the University spanned the period 2012-2016.
