Let's Not Blame Only Politicians For The Woes Of Our Country

In all our media discussions, we keep on blaming political leaders for the myriad of predicaments we face or facing as a nation. It is either the cause of NDC administration or NPP administration.

We must have a second thought as a nation or we shall continue to wallow in abject poverty and wander about in the forest of darkness hunting ourselves as animals.

This short article is an urge(clarion call) to all social commentators, political pundits and the general public to think twice in the usual and unnecessary blame games. We cannot continue to see our problems as being manufactured as a results of leadership nemesis.

First of all, leaders are produced by the larger society. Society must take responsibility when the leaders it produces fail to live to expectations.

Our democracy has given us an inalienable constitutional mandate to make and unmake leaders. We cannot therefore adopt this "holier than thou attitude" when it comes to the inability of the nation to make life comfortable for its citizenry.

Political leaders are only team leaders who direct, formulate, facilitate, coordinate and implement our national goals relative to our priorities as a nation. Most of the work is therefore done by the citizens and any failure to produce the desired results cannot be blamed on only political leaders. We have not being honest to ourselves and I think it is part of corruption.

Notwithstanding, the hypocrisy, acrimony, dishonesty and individualistic attitudes in the society are the major causes of our development challenges. We cannot tread on a national path when we have sycophants who parade around for their selfish ambitions. The penchant for quick money(riches) is the daily dream of the larger society today, particularly we the youth. Come to think of how we the youth do not want to do anything reasonable to live with apart from our over ambitious desire for non existing better paper jobs.

This country was built through agriculture but how many people want to go into this lucrative and traditional economic venture?

So why continue to blame only political leaders and not ourselves.

Most people blame political leaders for their inability to give them their daily bread, to pay their wards school fees, to give them colossal amount of cash for weddings and funerals. Our unnecessary and outrageous demands push our leaders into corruption yet we see no fault in us? Are we hypocrites or wicked to ourselves?

It is high time we realized that, development is a collective effort and we cannot always sit down aloof and expect magic from these helpless and poor leaders under our manipulation. Until we sharpen our consciousness beyond selfishness and greed, then our development would remain stagnant. The president of the land and any other political appointee are only facilitators. We live in a country where tax is an enemy, communal labour is now history, civil responsibility is shirked and we only make noise about. It is a shame. We need to be creative and supportive as a nation.

I am particularly concerned about my colleagues( youth) who use the whole day to watch football matches, smoke weed, argue unnecessarily and engage in their unstoppable notorious penchant to satisfy their insatiable sexual libido. These negative attitudes are drawing the development of the nation back and any individual or group who wants development must a matter of fact vehemently advocate a change of attitude.

It is indisputably conspicuous that, the more we sit unperturbed only to blame politicians, the more we produce worse future leaders. If we cannot see our mistakes to talk of correcting them, then it is absolutely lugubrious to attempt blaming others for their mistakes. My view is that, if we stand on correcting the wrongs in society ourselves, then our leaders would have now option than to lead by our vision.

Our stomach direction radio commentary and the numerous cacophony on the street on insensitive leadership is flawed and out of place. We can direct our arsenals to creative and innovative thinking and better still constructive criticism.

My ears are tired on the jaundice analyses by some self acclaimed political pundits and social commentators who often have nothing to say than the usual rhetorics, insults, unnecessary blame games and above all, cheap political propaganda. Our bane of politics cannot stand the test of time and we risk our young democracy if we don't cage ourselves from the vulgar and empty language.

There is no change without the needed conscience. Change can only come if we are committed to setting a standard. Change is not cheap and does not occur just by word.

Shall return soon.....
