Mahama: NDC's Dead Shai Parliamentary Candidate Had Promise
President John Mahama has said the governing National Democratic Congress’ parliamentary candidate for Shai Osudoku, who was killed in a car crash on Thursday night, had a lot of promise.
In a tweet to express his condolences, Mr Mahama said Desmond William Ocloo’s death saddened him.
Mr Ocloo died instantly in a head-on crash with another vehicle on the Juaso-Kumasi road around 11pm on Thursday March 3, as he drove to Kumasi.
He beat incumbent David Tetteh Assumeng (1280) in the primary by polling 4,350. Two other contenders: Dr. Kpessah Whyte and Ebenezer Adzakli polled 3,189, and 393, respectively.
Mr Ocloo’s death means the NDC would have to re-run the primary in the constituency to elect a new candidate for the November polls.
