UBA Ghana Celebrates 10 Years
Tony Elumelu
Tony Elumelu, Board Chairman of the UBA Group of Companies, says UBA Ghana will continue to democratize banking by supporting Ghanaian entrepreneurs and growing their businesses in Ghana and beyond.
Mr Elumelu, who was speaking at a dinner hosted as part of activities to mark the bank's 10th anniversary, said UBA has embraced the digital revolution and was offering customers cashless services, while delivering strong customer service focus to meet their financial objectives.
Currently, UBA Ghana has 25 branches which serve over 17,000 customers across the country.
'The opening of UBA Ghana in January 2005 represented UBA's ambition of becoming the bank for Africa and Africans.
'UBA Ghana was the first step in UBA's pan-African strategy, the beginning of what has been an extraordinary journey, with UBA now present in 19 African counties, as well as in New York, Paris and London.'
Mr Elumelu and a delegation from UBA Ghana earlier met President John Mahama and had discussions on ways in which UBA could effectively partner government.
The Board was also at Accra Academy for the Read Africa event, a pioneering initiative run by the UBA Foundation that seeks to encourage young people to read widely.
The Black Tie Gala at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra had in attendance Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG) and Board of Directors of both the UBA Group and UBA Ghana.
