Global Cinemas inaugurated in Accra
Accra, Sept. 6, GNA - A new cinema and entertainment complex called 'Global Cinemas' (GC), has been inaugurated in Accra to reduce the stress of individuals and provide a wellbeing-enabling entertainment options for the public.
Mr Edward Boateng, Chairman of the Group said GC is a cinema complex that would bring diversity to the Ghanaian cinema industry, with the hope of changing the entertainment landscape and providing a viable and affordable alternative out-of-home entertainment experience.
He explained that the movies would offer movies in both 3D and 2D, with Dolby Digital Surround Sound, plush seating, and a variety of concessions and also making plans to offer the public a kid's playground and video gaming arena to enhance the family experience.
'Looking ahead, we assure all our movie enthusiasts that Global Cinemas will stand for quality; quality service, quality movies, and quality out-of-home entertainment experiences,' he said.
Mr Boateng said invited members of the movie fraternity, producers and actors to join the group do their part to uplift the industry.
Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Agyare, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, in a speech read on her behalf noted that one of the missions of the sector is to develop and encourage private sector partnerships to ensure growth.
She said: 'Since the industry is refined close to the turn of the new millennium, we have experienced a holistic embrace of diverse cultural and artistic innovations especially with the influx of quality of quality movies in the Ghanaian sector.'
Mrs Ofosu-Agyare commended Global Cinemas for the endeavour, adding that the sector believes that the establishment would be operating within a peaceful and conducive atmosphere; one that the public could enjoy.
She advised managers of GC to always be in touch with the soil of the country and work towards the positive growth of the local movie industry to ensure that the local movies get the boost they need in order to compete locally and internationally.
'I reiterate that government, with a commitment to the growth of the arts, culture and tourism sector, will support Global Cinemas in order to build the local industry while ultimately enhancing national growth'.
Mrs Ofosu-Agyare said it is the responsibility of the sector to ensure that it is properly regulated and as well ensure approval of policies and licenses that would only seek to make the operators more willing to engage and bring in more competition.
Mr Ernest Boateng, Managing Director of the Cinema said the company took notice of the demands for better stress-relieving and wellbeing-enabling entertainment options for Ghanaians, hence the establishment of GC to fulfill that need.
He said GC is open to the public and would show different categories of global movies including that of Ghana, Bollywood, Hollywood and Nollywood.
