Deadly Robber Nabbed In Kumasi
Baba Musah , the man regarded by the police as a very dangerous criminal who robbed his victims with deadly weapons, including AK 47 assault rifle, has finally been apprehended by the Ashanti Regional Police Command.
The suspect had been placed on the police wanted list for several months; but strangely, he always escaped arrest until he was eventually nabbed at his hideout at Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region on Sunday following a tipoff.
He had been linked with several high-profile robbery incidents in the Ashanti Region, particularly in Kumasi, for some time now.
Baba Musah, according to the police, was among the trigger-happy hoodlums who recently shot three people, including Kwadwo Marfo, a broadcast journalist in Kumasi, during a fierce robbery expedition.
Briefing the media, DCOP Kofi Boakye, Ashanti Regional Commander, disclosed that the informant who leaked information leading to Baba Musah's arrest had been paid a staggering GH¢5,000.
Bonti Killer
He announced that after Baba Musah's arrest, Bonti Killer, who allegedly killed a man at Ash Town in Kumasi some months ago, had taken over as the most wanted criminal in the region with GH¢5,000 ransom placed on his head.
The police capo, whose tenure in the last nine months had resulted in the arrest of almost all the hardened criminals in the region, also said that Opete, Magazine and Ngozi were all being wanted, urging the public to help in arresting them.
Musah's Escapades
Recounting some of the robbery escapades of Baba Musah, DCOP Kofi Boakye said on October 27, 2011 at about 12:20 am, the suspect led eleven other hoodlums in a robbery expedition at Asawase, a suburb of Kumasi.
During that incident, he said the criminals climbed the roof of the victim's house and managed to get to the veranda and without provocation Baba Musah, who was holding a locally manufactured gun, shot the owner of the house in the eye.
Baba Musah was later arrested in Accra and brought to the Asawase Police who hauled him to court. But surprisingly, somewhere in September 2013 the court discharged him.
In August 2013 around 9am, Abu Iddrisu, a businessman in Adukrom, was on his way to work when Baba Musah, with Awudu and Dan, robbed him of an amount of GH¢4,100. Musah admitted the offence.
Also, in August 2013 one Abdul Aziz was robbed of his GH¢370.00 and a Samsung mobile phone by Baba Musah and his group who fled the scene.
This same Musah also led a team of hardened robbers to Atwima Nkoranza on 24 August, 2014 in a robbery expedition where Kwadwo Marfo, a Kumasi-based journalist, and two others were shot.
Baba and his cohorts took away a colossal amount of money, mobile phones and other valuable items after which they absconded with their booty.
DCOP Kofi Boakye urged people who had fallen victim to Baba Musah's robbery exploits to report to the police, assuring that the police would protect victims and witnesses and so nobody should be afraid.
The police capo stated categorically that all other robbers on the police wanted list would be arrested before the end of the year, unless they leave the Ashanti Region.
