Osei-Bonsu Heads Tourism Authority
MR. CHARLES Osei-Bonsu has been appointed Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), a correspondence from the Presidency has indicated.
A seasoned tourism technocrat, his appointment takes retrospective effect from February 3, 2014.
Mr. Charles Osei-Bonsu is a seasoned administrator who has worked in the tourism industry over the past 32 years, rising through the ranks to the position of Deputy Executive Director, Finance & Administration, at the erstwhile Ghana Tourist Board (now the Ghana Tourism Authority).
He was a Member, Planning Committee of the Silver Jubilee celebration of the enstoolment of Otumfuo Opoku Ware II, Asantehene - 1994;
Member, National Planning Committee of the National Festival of Arts & Culture (NAFAC) - 1992; Member, Regional Planning Committee of the Farmers' Day celebration - 1993;
Chairman, Special Committee for Nationwide Crash Training Programme for Hospitality Personnel – to ensure quality service delivery - 2005.
He was also Chairman, Working Committee of the National Tourism Awards - 2002-2008; Chairman, Planning Committee for the International Celebration of World Tourism Day in Ghana under the aegis of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) - 2009.
He chaired the Committee to review the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Tourism and Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) on the transfer of HOTCATT management to GIMPA - 2009 and coordinated the World Tourism Day celebrations in Ghana - 2013.
