NHIS Rebrands At 10
The new brand identity for NHIS comes with a newly designed distinctive logo with a new colour identity and a new tag line, 'Your Access to Healthcare'.
The launch took place at the Holiday Inn in Accra last Thursday under the theme: 'Towards Universal Health Coverage: Increasing Enrolment whilst Ensuring International Sustainability', would cover a two-month period to be climaxed by a 2-day international conference from November 4-6.
In his welcome address at the launch, Sylvester Mensah, Chief Executive for the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) said the rebranded Scheme would not only be reflected in its logos and public image but would resonate even more in the attitude and class of managing the social health scheme.
He said the 10 th anniversary of the scheme is a good time to take stock and re-strategize for the future especially as Ghana's model had earned international admiration and had become a positive reference social health mitigation model to several other countries.
Mr Mensah also admitted that though the Scheme had faced major challenges, it had also chalked enviable success stories and the prospects of a better future are very promising.
He mentioned specific interventions like the clinical audits and restricting of the claims processing centre that have led to salvaging huge amounts of money that was hitherto going into wrong pockets.
The Chief Executive promised his outfit would ensure an improved effectiveness in the Scheme's delivery of service so as to guarantee satisfaction of subscribers.
Aside the unveiling of the new brand, the official kick-start of the 10 th anniversary activities also saw the launch of instant biometric ID cards for subscribers.
According to Mr Mensah, the reason behind the instant biometric ID cards is to eliminate difficulties in ID card management and help identify authentic subscribers at health care facilities.
He said the biometric ID cards is also aimed at preventing the duplication of records and ensure effective verification system at the point of healthcare service delivery.
Activities for the 10 th anniversary event include the holding of lectures and symposia, inter-school regional quizzes, special registration for new subscribers, district health walks, media interaction, field visits and an award dinner.
